YHT High-Speed Trains in Turkey: Routes, Classes and Travel Guide

YHT at a glance
YHT is TCDD Taşımacılık’s high-speed train service. A city name alone is not enough to choose a train: compare the full station name, departure, arrival, class and fare conditions for your date.
What YHT means
YHT stands for Yüksek Hızlı Tren, or High-Speed Train. TCDD Taşımacılık operates this service. TCDD is the railway infrastructure organisation, while TCDD Taşımacılık is the train operator; YHT names the high-speed service rather than a separate railway company.
Main YHT corridors
The network is centred on Ankara and connects important destinations such as Istanbul, Eskişehir, Konya, Karaman, and Sivas. Not every train serves every station, and Istanbul departures may use stations on different sides of the city.
- Read the complete station name on the ticket or official result.
- Check whether a direct service is offered for the chosen date.
- Compare class and seat information shown for that specific train.
Before boarding
Keep the passenger and ticket details required by the operator available and arrive with enough time to locate the entrance and platform. Service patterns, train composition, and onboard facilities can change, so verify the current train information rather than relying on a general guide.
Compare economy and business on the chosen train
Economy and business labels describe seat classes; they do not by themselves establish the refund conditions, meal service or baggage entitlement of a ticket. Check the available class for your departure, then read the specific fare conditions. The class you saw on a different train may not be offered on this service.
YHT tickets and urban systems such as Marmaray or the Istanbul metro are separate products. If you use urban rail to reach your departure station, include that transfer and its ticket in the plan. Do not select a station merely because its name resembles a nearby metro stop.
Compare departures with the same checklist
| Check | What to compare |
|---|---|
| Station and departure | Read the complete Turkish station name and date, including the correct side of Istanbul. |
| Class and seat | Compare the options on the selected train; check the issued ticket for the actual carriage and seat. |
| Fare conditions | Check change and refund rights independently from economy or business class. |
| Connection | Include the urban transport, walking route and separate ticket needed to reach the station. |
