Izmir to Selcuk Train Guide for Ephesus Visitors
Regional rail to Selçuk
Regional trains provide a rail option between İzmir and Selçuk. İzmir Basmane is the central reference station for this journey, but travellers should confirm the exact train, direction, stops, and current operating information before leaving.
Selçuk and Ephesus are separate stops
Selçuk station brings you into the town of Selçuk. The Ephesus archaeological site is not the railway station, so a separate local transfer and site-entry plan is required. Check opening information and transport independently.
Practical checks
Regional ticket processes and reservation rules may differ from YHT services. Use current TCDD Taşımacılık information for the selected day.
- Confirm İzmir Basmane as the intended origin.
- Check the return service before starting a day trip.
- Allow time between Selçuk station and the archaeological site.
Regional train or İZBAN connection?
A regional train from İzmir Basmane and an İZBAN suburban journey are different products. Depending on your starting point and current services, an İZBAN itinerary toward Selçuk may involve a change at Tepeköy. Check each operator’s current timetable and ticket rules instead of assuming the same ticket or transfer pattern applies.
For an airport departure, verify that the selected train stops at Adnan Menderes Airport. After arrival in Selçuk, Ephesus still requires a local transfer; the archaeological site is not at the railway platform. Include that final segment and the opening hours in a day-trip plan.
Use the correct operator for each leg
İZBAN’s southern corridor includes Tepeköy and Selçuk. Use İZBAN’s own service notices for that suburban journey and TCDD information for a Basmane regional train. The two services should not be assumed to share ticketing, seat reservations or a departure platform. Check the Ephesus visitor information separately.
