For a rail-based visit from İzmir, Selçuk is the relevant town and railway station. Regional services can connect from İzmir Basmane, subject to the operating information for the chosen day.

The archaeological site is outside the railway station. Research current local transport, site entrances, opening information, weather, and walking requirements separately. A train ticket does not include admission or the transfer to the site.

Selçuk is the rail gateway, not the site entrance
Use Selçuk as the railway destination when planning a visit to Ephesus. After arrival, arrange local transport or a suitable walking route to the entrance you will use. The archaeological site has distinct access points, and arriving at one can affect the route through the site and where you meet your return transport.
Check official opening hours and admission information separately from the train timetable. In hot weather, consider the exposed walking sections, water and the time needed to return to Selçuk. Verify the last useful return connection before starting a late visit; entry to the site does not include a rail ticket.
